Ultrasonography

Safe, non-invasive imaging used to view internal organs and soft tissues in real time.

What is a Ultrasonography?

Ultrasonography (often just called an ultrasound) is a medical imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves — not X-rays — to create real-time pictures or videos of the inside of your body.

A device called a transducer sends sound waves into the body. These waves bounce back (echo) when they hit tissues, organs, or fluids. A computer then converts these echoes into images on a monitor.
