GI (gastrointestinal) surgery is the surgical treatment of conditions affecting the digestive system — including the gallbladder, hernias, the appendix, stomach, and intestines.
It is used to remove diseased tissue, repair structural problems, and relieve blockages or pain. Most GI procedures today are performed using minimally invasive laparoscopic (keyhole) techniques, which involve small incisions, less pain, and a faster recovery than traditional open surgery. At Dhanashree Hospital, GI surgery is available at both the Chinchwad and Moshi branches in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune.
From routine day-care procedures to complex digestive surgery, our team treats a full range of gastrointestinal conditions with a focus on minimally invasive care.
Keyhole removal of the gallbladder (laparoscopic cholecystectomy) to treat painful gallstones and inflammation — usually a day-care or single-night stay, with most people back to routine within a week.
Surgical repair of inguinal, umbilical, and incisional hernias using mesh reinforcement. Laparoscopic repair means smaller scars, less discomfort, and a lower chance of the hernia returning.
Prompt removal of an inflamed appendix to treat appendicitis. Our emergency surgical team is available to act quickly, reducing the risk of complications and supporting a smooth recovery.
Treatment of conditions affecting the small and large intestine — including obstructions, tumours, and inflammatory disease — with careful surgical planning tailored to each individual.
Every GI procedure at Dhanashree Hospital is backed by experienced surgeons, modern operating infrastructure, and a recovery process designed around the person.
Our GI and general surgery procedures are led by qualified, senior surgeons with deep experience in digestive-system operations — supported by trained anaesthetists and an intensive-care team for safety at every stage.
Dedicated modular operating theatres equipped for minimally invasive surgery, paired with in-house diagnostics and imaging — so your assessment, surgery, and monitoring all happen under one roof.
From 24×7 ICU support to structured follow-up and recovery guidance, we stay with you well beyond the operation — helping you heal safely and return to daily life with confidence.

Clear, straightforward answers to the questions people ask most before scheduling surgery.
Most people who undergo laparoscopic GI surgery — such as gallbladder removal or hernia repair — go home within 24 to 48 hours and return to light daily activity within one to two weeks. Full recovery, including lifting and strenuous work, typically takes three to four weeks. Open surgery requires a longer hospital stay and a recovery period of four to six weeks. Your surgeon will give you a personalised timeline based on your procedure and overall health.
Open surgery uses a single larger incision to access the organ directly, while laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery uses a few small cuts and a camera-guided instrument. Laparoscopic surgery generally means less pain, smaller scars, lower infection risk, and a faster return home. Not every case is suitable for the keyhole approach, so our surgeons assess your condition and recommend the safest option for you.
No referral is required. You can book a consultation directly at either our Chinchwad or Moshi branch in Pimpri-Chinchwad. If you already have reports, scans, or a referral letter from another doctor, bring them along so our surgical team can review your history and advise you faster.
